“A painter who addresses the public to reveal some of his ideas exposes himself to several dangers” -Henri Matisse, "Notes d'un peintre" (excerpt), La Grande revue, Paris, Dec. 25, 1908.
As the name suggests, http://resource.muserna.org is a website meant to serve as a resource for the work that I am producing. It gathers together projects, proposals, related documents, and even my own source material to share with visitors. Older work is also slowly being added. The main focus is the PROJECTS section which contains an individual page for each project with images and details. At the bottom of each project page is additional background information written and meant to be taken casually. It is in this way the work becomes very open and vulnerable. -Antonio Serna, NYC, Jan '07
BIO
Antonio Serna studied fine arts at Parsons School of Art and Design and the Gerrit Rietveld Akademie in Amsterdam. Since graduating from Parsons with a BFA, Antonio Serna has had the opportunity of expanding his cultural horizons by living and working in Hong Kong during the late 90s and in Madrid just before September 11th. During this period of moving from country to country, he discovered that creating art online via Muserna.org was the best way to maintain some kind of continuity in art making without the expense of maintaining a physical art studio. It was during this period when his avatar Muserna, and the Moderna Museet Muserna was born. In his brief career as an ASCII art revivalist, his art was included in The Complete Guide to Japanese Electronic Mail, Asahi Press. He is the co-founder of petiteMort, an indie art webzine, and Freckles Studio, a design studio located in the East Village of New York City. He is also the Blogger-in-Chief for Bureaux, the Editors' Blog at petiteMort. Throughout his artistic career Antonio Serna has exhibited in New York, Spain, Mexico, and Texas. Currently he is also an adjunct faculty at Parson School of Art and Design and Founder and Coordinator of the Informal Art Group.

STATEMENT
I find fascinating the attempts we make as a society to define the places we inhabit as being either interior or exterior. For the most part, we seem exist in a semi-disorientating limbo as our sense of perspective remains in flux. As much as modern society attempts to tackle this issue, it has somehow made the situation more chaotic. Social engineers are constantly revising designs for housing developments, detention centers, and borders. On a more intimate level, social groups have also evolved unspoken codes that help identify what they considered the inside and the outside. Examples of this unspoken code range from urban gang signs, superficial accessories, to alien symbolism. The examination of how we define the interior and exterior physically, socially, and psychologically, as proven to be an endless source of inspiration for my work.
